Project S10 Day 3

We finally did it.

^
Dave after he punched him self in the croch with the steering wheel.

i took the rear window out so we can mabie sell it later. I almost broke it when it fell out.

Dave though it would be easier to cut the top off the cab but after two cuts and almost sting us on fire he thought that it wasn't a good idea
so after we roled the cab off the frame we were going to push it out of the way but we soon found out that it was heavier then we though.

even with the 4-wheeler it didn't move that easy.
i did a look over after we got the cab off and found that the frame is in good shape for being 21 years old but there are some spots that need repairing. the points where you bolt the cab to the frame have rusted out and will need to be repaired. but for how old the truck is it isn't in bad shape.

as of today we have found a 350 V8 small block to replace the V6 4.3, a new cab (the new one is not an crew cab) and possibly a fiberglass bed.

S10 Roof Rack Idea

this is just a little something that i have been working on. the S10 model is something that i found on Google. that i have been working on is the rack on top of it. i wanted a place to mount some lights on top of the truck  and also wanted some cargo space seeing as i will be losing the extended cab. with a 4-wheeler in the back there isn't much space for other things. i haven't figured out how to secure it to the truck yet but i think i like the design i have so far. any pointers you have would be helpful.

Day 2 of Project S10

Welcome to Day 2
Our number one priority was to get the cab off the truck for this day. Some may say that we were biting off more than we could chew and we would say that they were right.

photos below were taken by my roommate Dave (blue shirt)

as you can see we got the inner fender off of one side and the outer off the other side. I also got two of the cab mounts off and found out that we needed to take the other off with the grinder. but to our dismay we didn't have a cable long enough to reach over to the truck

With Dave driving the truck and me pulling with the 4-wheeler we were able to get it over to the garage. only after the fact did we find out that the reason we could not push it was because the trucks hood was in the way of the tire and is now of no use.

after another hour and a half we were able to find that only two of the three cab mounts were holding anything. Dave was able to get everything disconnected from the firewall of the cab and i started to work on the inside again. we were able to get the dash out of the cab and locate the computer that runs every thing just in case the new cab didn't have one. at the end of the day we were not able to get the cab off of the truck but we are very close now. all that's left is the steering wheel and we will be able to take the cab off.

Tune in next week for some more info on Project S10
